Aspen Highlands and Snowmass are set to host this elite race with some of the best U.S Ski Team athletes. \nThe last time Aspen Snowmass hosted a U.S. Alpine Tech Championships was 60 years ago\, but ski racing runs deep in the Roaring Fork Valley\, as Aspen Snowmass not only hosted the first World Championships outside of Europe in 1950\, but has been a continuous stop on the World Cup circuit for both the men and women. We most recently hosted the 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals. \nFor the first time\, NASTAR National Championships will take place at the same venue as U.S Alpine Tech Championships. DESCRIPTION:2020 Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open \n\n\nFebruary 13 – 15\, 2020 \nThe Aspen Snowmass Open is one of the last and longest running independent open competitions in the nation. It opens up the X Games Aspen Slopestyle and Superpipe and Big Air courses at Buttermilk to amateur and professional level athletes. Last year\, the open drew around 200 competitors from six nations to test their skills. Registration will open at 10am MST on Friday\, November 1st\, 2019. \n\n\n\n\n complex-events  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open\n\n\nThe Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open is an AFP Gold Level event. The Association of Freeskiing Professionals is an organization responsible for implementing a balanced global rider ranking system and to serve as a unified voice for athletes and our sport. Made up of top athletes and key influencers within the sport of freeskiing\, the AFP is proactive in the future direction of events\, judging\, growth and evolution of the sport as well as fostering opportunities for emerging riders to climb a clear ladder to higher levels of competition. For more information on the AFP and to become a member go to www.afpworldtour.com. \nThe Aspen Snowmass Freesking Open is also a FIS NorAm Cup event. All competitors must be 14 years old as of December 31\, 2019 in order to compete. SUMMARY:ASPEN RUGGERFEST
DESCRIPTION:The world’s only all-age\, full-contact rugby tournament. Champion rugby is on display for four full days\, rain\, snow\, or shine. \nA brief history: \nThe first Aspen Ruggerfest was the brainchild Eastern Rockies Ruby Football President Union President Terry Fleener and a local Aspen ski-instructor Steve Sherlock. They both figured that there was no better place to hold a tournament than in Aspen where its diverse community would more than appreciate such an event. At the time Wagner Park was an unkempt field where beer cans\, used fast-food boxes and other forms of organic and inorganic detritus populated the grounds. Sherlock promised city council to clean up the field in return for a permit to hold the ‘rugby festival’. Request granted\, Sherlock set out not only to clean up the field but to erect makeshift rugby posts at either end. Then he set out to recruit a team from the motley crew of athletes that frequented the town’s various watering holes on any given night in search of ladies to bed down. It wasn’t very difficult to get teams to travel to Aspen for the first Ruggerfest and Sherlock’s band of rag-tags did well for a bunch of hooligans most of whose first experience of rugby was when the whistle blew to start their game. Fifteen teams attended the first Annual Aspen Ruggerfest held on Columbus Day Weekend. Summertime games of paintball on Snowmass Mountain not only offer the chance to do something different\, but they’re ridiculously fun. Paintball target practice is also available for kids. Join us for a wild game of outdoor paintball. We provide all the equipment and transportation\, all you need to do is wear grubby clothes and sturdy shoes. Paintball games are recommended for ages 8 and up. For private paintball for kids 8 and under we will arrange for target paintball. Book your own Private group of 6 or more! Please note: Minimum number of players is 6 and the maximum is 35. Group rate includes the first 10 players; additional players are $57 a person. \nGames run Monday – Friday at 4:30pm and Weekends at 9am and 1pm and are by reservation only. More paintballs are available for an additional fee.\nSuggested attire: Grubby clothes and sturdy shoes … the kind you don’t mind getting dirty.
